Bare Bones?  Hmmm…                                                          images-8

I know, it might sound a bit bizarre, so let me tell you how it came about.

I heard an old creative writing lecturer say it once. She mentioned just writing, writing, writing. Let the words spill out onto the page. The words start to form ideas which then become the structure. Hence, the skeleton appears.

The term bare bones is a reminder to myself, as a writer, to firstly write just that – the structure. I have an awful habit of trying to add too much detail, adjectives and the correct punctuation, in the first draft I write. Then, of course, the ideas just drift away and I’m back to square one.
